In 2023, Holborn Europa Raffinerie GmbH took over the annual inspection and carried out extensive shutdown work on its plants. From 26 August to mid-October, the refinery was gradually shut down in order to check the plants for safety and functionality during the so-called maintenance days. Repairs were carried out, projects were integrated and numerous investments were made in the infrastructure. The work comprised around 4,600 requirements with a total of 16,000 sub-work packages and a scope of around 110 million euros.  

The focus of the downtime work was on the maintenance and modernisation of the technical systems required for the safe and efficient operation of the refineries. At the end of this work, the refinery was left in perfect condition, ready for the next shutdown in five years' time.

Our role as a partner

promaintain was a key partner in the successful implementation of the challenging shutdown measures: our coordinators supported the inspection of around 2,500 devices and thanks to their in-depth expertise and precise coordination, the work was completed smoothly and on time.
