  • Task: Innovative Scaffolding Solutions and scaffolding management for new Vitamin A plant

BASF started planning the construction of a new vitamin A complex in Ludwigshafen back in 2016. The new plant will increase BASF's annual production capacity for vitamin A by 1,500 tonnes. In total, some 600 machines and apparatuses, 4,000 pipelines and 5,000 measuring points will have been integrated into the process control system by the time the plant is commissioned as planned at the end of 2020.

Since May 2019, promaintain has been the sole contractor for Innovative Scaffolding Solutions and scaffolding management in this project, with more than 12 employees. As in the ACETYLEN project in Ludwigshafen, which was successfully completed in 2019, the scaffolding for the GEMINI project will also be based on the innovative scaffolding method of planning and handling scaffolding operations, to date the only one of its kind in the world. A digital 3D scaffolding twin will be modelled using BIM and special scaffolding software. This enables the subsequent users of the scaffolding to check the usability, variability and flexibility of the planned structures before erecting them, optimising them if necessary. This "promaintain method" (bitte mit entsprechender Unterseite verlinken) minimises modification times, optimises scaffolding costs and ensures that high safety standards are implemented proactively from the planning phase. With its innovative scaffolding management, promaintain helps increase project efficiency and effectiveness in the interests of the customer. promaintain was commended by BASF in mid-2019 for the "outstanding safety work" associated with this approach.
